We all remember footprints in the sand where one set of footprints were in the sand representing Jesus carrying us. The impression I have is that sand can be blown away, what was there can disappear from winds or others who walk over it. I would rather view Jesus’ feet solidly set in stone.
His word is set in stone just like the commands given to the Israelites. We cannot alter or justify for our own means what God’s word says. Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
As believers we receive the privilege of knowing God’s will and direction. We know where Jesus has walked but more than just these historical destinations we have clear spiritual direction where He guides us into all truth. We are not left abandoned to blindly stumble our way through life. His feet have been set in stone.
Isaiah 42:16King James Version (KJV)
16 And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.
This is an exciting place to be, to know without a doubt we can see Jesus’ footprints ahead of us, clearing away the crooked things and making them straight. Yes, even those things that have been bent for years or even generations. I will make darkness light before them which means nothing can remain hidden, light will shine in the face of darkness and cause it to flee, our steps will be secure and strong, all veils removed giving us eyes to see as Jesus sees, deception no longer can cast it’s shadow.
Luke 3:5-6 King James Version (KJV) 5 Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be all be made smooth; 6 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.
Every valley shall be filled…every hopeless situation, every empty heart will be filled with all the wonder of His love, joy and peace. You will not be left wanting.
Every mountain and hill shall be brought low…there is no obstacle before us that God cannot remove to bring about His perfect will. When we face a mountain, we just tell it to move.
Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
When we think of rough places, we get the idea that nothing is easy, things are not falling into place, and there are rocks that seem like boulders preventing our journey. The good news is that God promises to make those rough places smooth. But how we ask? The terrain is unbearable, difficult, dry and arid. It leaves us parched as in a desert land.
Our perspective must change in order for us to walk in the footsteps of Jesus. He did not trust in the limitations of man, nor man’s earthly solutions. He only trusted in the faithfulness of His Father to do what was pleasing in His sight. Every good and perfect good from above has no shifting shadow because God does not change in character or nature.
James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
How powerful is our mighty God who led the Israelites in the wilderness and never left wanting, their shoes never wore out. I’m sure they came across some obstacles that were overwhelming but God saw them through each and every one of them. He even made water gush out of a rock. Yes a rock that is our solid Rock and Living water that flows from within each and every believer.
Deuteronomy 8:15 Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint;
Deuteronomy 32:4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is He.
If our perspective is to keep our eyes on this world and this life, we will only see the empty valley, the fearful and intimidating mountain, the crooked, rugged, jagged road and darkness as an oppressor to keep us blind to God’s goodness and faithfulness. The paths we have known in unbelief will keep us from entering paths that God intends for us. We cannot doubt God because it will leave us blind and deceived.
Colossians 3:1-2 Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.
"But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.
looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus,
fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
considering the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he was looking to the reward.
For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ;
1 Peter 1:3-4
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,
So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,
1 Thessalonians 4:14
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.
"The LORD will open for you His good storehouse, the heavens, to give rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hand; and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.
