Moldable Clay (but which way are we molding?)

July 19, 2017

Children love playdough. Why? Because they can design that piece of dough into any shape they want. The warmer it gets, the softer it becomes. Their imaginations can take that lump and make it life-like. From the start the clay looks just like clay, one mass of impressionable dough. It does not take shape until someone begins molding it into something that pleases them.

God speaks of us as being like clay. Isaiah 64:8 But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.

But are we all so eager to allow God to mold us by the works of His hands?

Isaiah 45:9 Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?

There will be an impression upon our clay. It will either be the works of God’s hands or the impression this world has left on us.

We wonder why our clay vessels do not even resemble the work of our Potter. That is because the world has made more of an impression upon our hearts than the handprints of God. The Potter’s wheel has become a place of agony for those who have no desire to be molded into Christ’s likeness. They would rather invite Babylon’s evil hand distorting the very image God intends for us.

We may say a little of the world is no harm; it will soften my clay with the advantage of fitting in rather than being an outcast. I won’t be spotted among the crowd but blend into the culture. Less rejection is an advantage when our motive is really to please our flesh anyway. But what does God have to say about this?

Revelation 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

Psalm 26:5 I have hated the congregation of evil doers; and will not sit with the wicked.

Psalm 45:7 Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Psalm 101:3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.

Jeremiah 15:19 Therefore thus saith the Lord, If thou return, then will I bring thee again, and thou shalt stand before me: and if thou take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth: let them return unto thee; but return not thou unto them.

God calls the world vile and He calls the things of His Kingdom precious.

Psalm 5:5 The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.

I Corinthians 10:21 King James Version (KJV)

21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.

What happens when we continue allowing the world to shape our thinking, values and desires?  Our clay becomes hardened into the very mold of an anti-Christ culture.

Mark 6:52 For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened.

Hebrews 3:8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, Like as in the day of the trial in the wilderness,

When our hearts are hardened we cannot see the hand of God moving in our lives. There is a spiritual blindness that sets in causing us to gravitate towards the things God hates. We become like leaves being blown and tossed in the wind in every direction. We have left the Potter’s wheel to find our next meal in Egypt.

Psalm 78:18 And in their heart they put God to the test
By asking food according to their desire.

We become slaves once again to the wicked rulers who throw us their choice meal only to keep us as slaves.

Matthew 4:8-10 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

We cannot worship and serve two masters.

Joshua 24:15 (KJV)

15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Exodus 17:7New American Standard Bible (NASB)

7 He named the place [a]Massah and [b]Meribah because of the quarrel of the sons of Israel, and because they tested the Lord, saying, “Is the Lord among us, or not?”

Luke 4:12 12 And Jesus answered and said to him, “It is said, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’”

What will be the outcome of those who refuse the Lord’s grace…

Revelation 9:20-21(KJV)

20 And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:

21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

Revelation 14:9-10  9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,

10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

Revelation 14:19  19 And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.

Revelation 16:1 And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth.

We know that one day Jesus will rule the kingdoms of this world on His HOLY MOUNTAIN. This is a time of purging out the world and a Babylonian system. It will attempt to infiltrate in various ways that seem innocent and harmless.

The devil comes as an angel of light. Do not be deceived and remain on our Master Potter’s wheel. There we will find our Master’s touch to become His Holy and beautiful bride. It is time to come out of her, the world’s system as Babylon, no longer to be enticed by her ways.

Revelation 11:15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
