1 John 2:19

“They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.”

We recently saw a depiction of a Christian movie at home where a Roman soldier that killed Jesus encountered Jesus after He had risen. Now I know we haven’t gone to the movies in 28 years but I know I can bring scripture into this. I won’t address the ad libitums in the movie because this is what most writers do when writing a script, especially when it is about historical Christianity.

What I observed was when this man was asked by his emperor what does he seek. The Roman soldier said peace and no death.

This soldier had a duty to put people and Christians to death. He ended up hanging out with Jesus quite a bit and I never saw him confess with his mouth that Jesus is Lord. I never saw a humility and brokenness when speaking to Jesus being the soldier putting Him to death. I would think the guy would have been crying his head off sitting there with Jesus. He seemed a bit smug and yet there was an attitude of I’ve learned something else about Jesus today as if he were in a school of thought.

The theme was very convincing and moving throughout. I guess I expected a man who encountered Jesus after His resurrection to be a bit more emotional about each experience. Romans are depicted to be macho, but when you meet Jesus your heart melts in moldable clay. Maybe they are planning on doing a sequel where he really knows Jesus as His Lord and Savior?

When you become a true believer, He always calls you back home if you have wandered off like sheep. But if you never come back, then you were never a true believer. This brings us to the scripture in I John 2:19.

It is ironic to say I want peace and then go kill people. We know in Revelation there will be a time where those who are seeking an earthly peace will put believers to death. Christians are a threat to their type of peace. Reason being is that earthly peace has no boundaries in regards to morality. It’s a free for all society without any obstruction of conscience. It’s a narcissistic peace that only involves personal idolatry's. When the time comes they will see Christians, as they see Jesus and repeat putting Him to death.

The world has established their kingdoms, political parties and religious groups. Jesus shakes the very core of their foundations. Will Rome rise again? Many speculate that it will, maybe it has been here under our noses all along. Rome was dispersed among nations and now we have rulers vying for power and control, antagonizing and being antagonized. God's word says in the last days many will become offended. Probably because those who choose this world's system will be crossed at those who want to follow Jesus with their whole heart, mind and soul.

These wars and rumors of wars are not like the child who says you stole my toy and I’m going to hit you. It's more like bloody revenge or let me have your nation so I can do what I want with it. God flooded the earth during Noah’s time because the earth had become exceedingly violent.

Genesis 6:11-12 11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.

12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.

Either all these leaders are in cahoots with one another to destabilize our ground or there is a huge problem in everyone getting along, possibly both. There is going to rise an insidious ruler that will deceive many into thinking he is a man of peace but worships the god of fortresses.

The main roman soldier’s name was Clavius.

A bit of info on the name Clavius...Per dragon quest Clavius is a king of Argonia, a kingdom in Dragon Quest VIII.

I have no clue what this game is about and have no desire to play it. Sony playstation can utilization this game according to wikipedia and a division of Sony pictures (Affirm films) created the movie I am writing about.

Isaiah 27:1 In that day the Lord with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.

Revelation 12:6-8King James Version (KJV)

6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,

8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.

Clavius in the movie said he worshiped the god Mars.

Per Wikipedia:

Pater of the Roman people, Guardian ofsoldiers and farmers, God of War, Destruction and Masculinity He was second in importance only to Jupiterand he was the most prominent of the military gods in the religion of the Roman army. Most of his festivals were held in March, the month named for him (Latin Martius), and in October, which began the season for military campaigning and ended the season for farming.

A man seeking peace is not going to pray to the god of mars who represents war. The guy was obviously deceived.

Satan incarnate will do the same stating I’m all for peace, but he will worship a god of fortresses. Why do you need fortresses but for war and to keep your enemies out.

The dictionary says a fortress is: A fortified place, especially a large, permanent military stronghold that often includes a town.

Wars are started in the hearts of men who have not given their lives to Jesus. God’s word says He is our refuge and strong tower, not a military stronghold governing towns.

Psalm 18:2 (KJV)

2 The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

Psalm 61:3 For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.

Proverbs 18:10 The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

Micah 4:8 And thou, O tower of the flock, the strong hold of the daughter of Zion, unto thee shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem.

Jesus appeared to around 500 people after he arose, many believed.

I Corinthians 15:1-11 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:

6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.

7 After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.

8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.

9 For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.

10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

11 Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.

Now is the time to believe. JESUS is here among His children with God’s Holy Spirit living in them. Let us not be deceived into thinking this man of peace that is coming upon the nations will be your Messiah. Your Messiah has already come and is living within all true born again believers. One day He will rule the nations on His Holy Mountain.

John 20:29“Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.”
