Matthew 27:29 (KJV)
29 And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!
John 19:2-5 (KJV)
2 And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe,
3 And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.
4 Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.
5 Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!
Psalm 132:18 (KJV)
18 His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.
Jesus is God and the humility and love that surrounded His very being brought Him to the cross in spite of those whose ignorance mocked Him. He went on His own accord to die for the sins of the world and yet these men whipped Him until He was unrecognizable.
A crown of thorns was dug into His scalp to laugh at His title being King of the Jews. He was their Savior but they rejected His sacrifice and atonement. Why? Because they loved darkness rather than light.
Jesus could have destroyed them all with one breath, but rather He bled and died for them and for those who would believe that He was their Messiah. It sure would have been tempting to wipe these mockers out, but Jesus gave it no thought. He had to go to the cross, He had to die and resurrect. All the sins of the world were upon Him as His hands, feet and side were pierced.
Every ounce of blood He gave was saying I love you but they were blinded by their own selfish pride.
Now Jesus is seated on His throne and yes those mockers can eat their own belligerence. It is the same today as it was then, they scoff at our precious Redeemer who wants to reveal Himself to them and give them eternal life.
Go ahead and try to save this earth which will one day roll up as a scroll.
What will one gain if you lose your soul, darkness will prevail and consume your every breath. Hell will not be merciful to comfort those in flames, when they cursed the name of God’s Son and rejected His grace.
One day Jesus our One and only King will come back with many crowns and display His great power against the kings of the earth. You will not be able to mock or scourge Him because He has come to avenge the blood of His servants.
Revelation 19:1-16 (KJV)
19 And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:
2 For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.
3 And again they said, Alleluia And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.
4 And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia.
5 And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.
6 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.
7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
12 His eyes were as a flame of fire,
and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name
written, that no man knew, but he himself.
13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King Of Kings, And Lord Of Lords.
