Burdens come in all sizes and weights. God is not concerned with the size of our load, He just wants us to hand it over to Him. He wants us to find rest in His sovereignty, faithfulness and love.
When we get overwhelmed particularly in our thoughts, we begin to enlarge our problems until they become these enormous sized burdens weighing heavily upon our hearts and minds. It’s like feeding a bear...the more you give it food, the more it wants to feed. So we need to stop the feeding and give these burdens over to the Lord. It’s a way of saying I’m not going to allow doubt to infiltrate my mind. I’m not going to give into worry or anxiety. I’m not going to open the door to the enemy to rob my peace and joy.
It’s a way of saying I trust You Lord with all that I am trying to carry on my own. You have the answers, You have paved the way, You have opened the doors, You have supplied all our needs, You have never abandoned us, You have always brought justice and vindication.
So if there is a load pressing on you right now, give it to Him. He is waiting to make your load light. He already knows what to do as He is God. How soon we forget when we forge our way into piling a mountain full of worry, doubt and fear.
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
