Sometimes words pop into my head that I’m not familiar with. The other morning the word docilite came to mind. I had an idea of what docile meant but docilite was completely different. It is a french word for obedience and submission.

Why is this so important in the believer’s life? It is because obedience or submission comes from a love for God and not duty. It also reveals how much we depend upon our Savior in life.

Submission or obedience says I believe God knows what is best for me and the last thing on my heart is to run from His will. He created us and is omniscient. His wisdom and knowledge far outweighs our ability to see into our future or even present.

Sometimes God tests our faith through our obedience. Do we really trust Him even when things don’t fit like a perfect puzzle piece rather pieces that don’t fit together as expected. He can make masterpieces out of messes because nothing is impossible with Him.

It’s so important to listen to God’s Holy Spirit and to be obedient to what He is saying. We don’t want to plow through according to our time table. God has perfect order and timing regardless if we see our circumstance from a different perspective. We cannot lose heart because losing heart means we don’t trust in His ability to help us.

I Samuel 15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5(KJV)

4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

James 4:7

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Joshua 5:6 For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people that were men of war, which came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they obeyed not the voice of the Lord: unto whom the Lords ware that he would not shew them the land, which the Lord sware unto their fathers that he would give us, a land that floweth with milk and honey.

I Samuel 12:15 But if ye will not obey the voice of the Lord, but rebel against the commandment of the Lord, then shall the hand of the Lord be against you, as it was against your fathers.

Jeremiah 7:23 But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.

Zephaniah 3:2 She obeyed not the voice; she received not correction; she trusted not in the Lord; she drew not near to her God.

Acts 5:29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

Galatians 5:7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?

John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
