How many look to man for a perfect world? What do I mean and what am I referring to? Everything in life is never perfect. We live in elements which periodically invade our space. It is how we handle and deal with them that are most important.

I Corinthians 2:5 (KJV) That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

As believers we have Jesus, God and His Holy Spirit. If we are operating in faith, we see the sunshine through the clouds even though the darkness seems so real. It could be storming outside but inwardly we need to be calm and peaceful. Our eyes get the brunt of flying objects but our heart gets to focus on the One who calms the storms.

Jesus was sleeping on the boat while His disciples were being tormented by thrashing waves ready to capsize the boat. They were freaking out to put it mildly, but Jesus wasn’t.

Mark 4:35-41 (KJV) And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.

36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.

37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.

38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?

41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

I would probably be in the same boat as the disciples, meaning my fear would escalate and my heart would be pounding out of my chest in fright. The disciples were fishermen, they knew the ocean and have dealt with many situations before, but this…it felt like their plight was out of control.

Hmmm, sometimes God lets us enter into situations that can go beyond our control. Maybe it’s because He wants us to grow in faith and see His hand move mightily on our behalf. How else will miracles happen unless we see the despair and dire need for them. Most would not walk around and ask God for a miracle just for the sake of it. The Jews of Jesus’ day did just that. Give us a miracle so we can believe as if Jesus were a magician at a carnival fair.

Matthew 16:1-4 16 The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.

2 He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.

3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

John 6:28-30 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?

29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

30 They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

Our tempest can reside within which is not what God designed for us. How do we tell our flesh to calm down when the typhoon suddenly approaches our neck of the woods? Our knees start knocking when that gale picks up and we are off incensed, distraught and frantic waiting for the next crushing blow of waves. Our emotions turn into blizzards with cyclone episodes tossing us every which way. This is not God’s plan.

Ephesians 6:16  Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

Do we just sit there and get pummeled by the enemy’s darts? Do we give into the attacks because we are not operating in faith or trust in the Lord? Are we listening to the storm and not putting our faith in the Lord? Who are we listening to?

2 Thessalonians 3:2 And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.

What happened to the faith that can move mountains and calm the storms?

Mathew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Where does our trust lie in?

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

2 Samuel 22:31 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.

Psalm 5:11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.

Psalm 7:1 O Lord my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me:

Psalm 20:7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.

Who is our true Deliverer.

Psalm 22:5 They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.

Romans 11:25-27 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

Do we have to get to the point of catastrophic outbreaks to achieve results? How is that going to calm any storm? Jesus was sleeping, He didn’t even flinch cringe or cower when the disciples told him they were about to die.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

I Peter 5:6-9 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

Matthew 11:29-30  Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Are we suppose to be yoked to those who do not have peace? If so we will be tossed in their tempest.

So when the time comes and we see the storm fast approaching we need to say to our hearts, peace be still. These are the exact words Jesus said when he spoke to the storm. Sometimes there is a detach in our emotions to our minds.

We forget about the peace be still part because those waves seem so real to us.

Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

The enemy loves to frighten us to bits and he will use others to accomplish his task. Faith is a gate to our peace. If we have no faith, we have no peace. We will be tossed to and fro by the waves that come our way.

James 1:5-8 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Romans 14:19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

Jesus was their answer to their storm but they failed to realize it because they lacked faith. Jesus said that we are to walk in peace not anxiety. So when the whirlwind steps inside our minds, we must cast it out. If we are being influenced by those who have no concern as to whether they are sinning against God, no concern whether they are edifying our spirit then we can surely say the enemy is creating the tsunami. Does a believer reason with the devil? No!

Galatians 5:22-23  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

How do we know if we are walking in the spirit and not after the flesh? If there is no peace in our spirit good chances we are walking in the flesh without realizing it and if we do realize it, then we need to repent and it doesn’t mean just saying I’m sorry. God is not to be mocked.
