The other day we visited a grocery store to pick up some things. We have known the counter person for years and have been greatly blessed to experience her attitude in serving others. She never has a bad day or at least never shows it. She has incredible customer service skills and thinks of the customer first. When customers get grouchy or rude she stays the same, always consistent. We admire her for this. She tries her best.
One day she told us that she was eating lunch outside and one of the big bosses came to town. They found her at a table eating lunch.
This executive manager complimented her and gave her three $5 gift cards. She was so humbled by the fact this executive sought her out to give her the $15 gift card.
This really teaches us a lesson in gratitude and humility. Most would have said, Yeah but this corporate manager gets thousands of dollars in bonus' or goes to lunch and leaves $40 tips.
This executive manager sought her out to give her a gift. She appreciated the gift so much and the fact they went searching for her.
I think of how Jesus seeks out the unsaved and wants to give them the gift of eternal life. He doesn't stop because He can't find us. He knows exactly who we are and is ready to hand the gift of eternal life. There is more rejoicing in heaven with one sinner who repents!
How much more valuable is eternal life than $15 of store credit. But to this employee it was the best thing that ever happened to her.
We should find deep gratefulness in the grace God has given us through His Son Jesus. He sought us out and we were found by Him!
Luke 15:7-10 (NASB)
7 I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.
The Lost Coin
8 “Or what woman, if she has ten silver coins and loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?
9 When she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin which I had lost!’ 10 In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
