UNCERTAINTY VS. CERTAINTY

April 14, 2020

I heard a commercial start with “With these uncertain times…” I didn’t hear the rest of their propaganda because uncertainty comes from the world. Uncertainty is doubt, confusion, mistrust, anxiety, a lack of peace, instability, insecurity, wavering, restlessness.

What is their anchor? What is their hope? What do they place their faith in?

We have certainty brothers and sisters. Our certainty comes from our Rock our LORD and SAVIOR.

I Samuel 2:2 There is none holy as the Lord: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.

Psalm 18:2 The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

Certainty is when we have confidence, trust, faith, conviction, firmness, surety in every promise and word spoken by Jesus given to us all for time and eternity.

I John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

Yes, we have complete certainty!

Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ

Ephesians 1:11-14  In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

The storm hit the boat, but Jesus was in the boat. He had command over the waves. We only need to believe our Father who cares for even the sparrows.

Where we place our trust is where we will gain our strength or lose it. The power of God is greater than our weakness. Trust in His strength.

Psalm 5:11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.

Psalm 9:10 And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

2 Samuel 22:33 God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect.

I Chronicles 16:11 Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually.

Unbelief is like tearing your house down piece by piece. If you don’t have a roof you will soon experience the elements of the outside world. Jesus wants us to guard our minds and not self destruct by listening to voices that speak against the omnipotence, omnipresence and omniscience of God.

Romans 8:5-6 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

How do we test God? By unbelief, lack of trust, striving in our flesh and not resting in His faithfulness.

Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Thoughts can exalt the name of Jesus or diminish His glorious name.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

To love God with all our mind is to acknowledge His character and faithfulness to all generations.

Psalm 119:89-90 For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven. 90 Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth.

Psalm 100:5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

Mathew 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

Do not be deceived, test all things to see if it is from the Spirit of God.
