Do we know what season this is?
It is not only a time for purging the souls of God's children but extreme grace for both believer and unbeliever.
God is revealing idols in our hearts. We take for granted that disobedience is rebellion. What does God's word say about rebellion?
I Samuel 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.
The world is like one big thick fog that prevents many from seeing who God is. It occupies our time, hearts and minds.
When we say we love God but are disobedient to what He has called us to do, it is no different than committing adultery. Being unfaithful as an adulterer can be applied when we become stubborn and stiff-necked before God.
I truly believe this is a time of extreme grace for the believer to set ourselves apart from this world by what we desire. This extreme grace also is for the unbeliever to give their hearts to Jesus. There are no more distractions, all is quiet on the home front.
We have been taken back in history where merchants were few, entertainment was the circus coming to town or a country picnic where the best in pie won first prize. Blue ribbons were more coveted than the sweets themselves. Simplicity muffled out all the noise that now draws people away from hearing God.
Now God is saying can you hear Me now? Nothing should be interfering with the sound of My voice calling you to be my child. Seek Me and You will find Me.
I love how God spoke to Elijah in a whisper, a still small voice.
1 Kings 19:9-13 (KJV)
9 And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?
10 And he said, I have been very jealous for the Lord God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.
11 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake:
12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.13 And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?
God got rid of the wind, the earthquake and fire so people can hear His voice in His season of extreme grace.
Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
