My question is why do people go to movie theaters to be scared out of their wits? Is it the darkness that compels them? Fear has nothing to do with God’s light nor watching evil scary movies.
Fear is based upon a perception of either something that may happen or something that is happening. How do you get control on fear that drives our emotions away from the trustworthiness and faithfulness of God?
Fear can be propagated by what we listen to or watch. It can take control of our minds thus taking control of our emotions. It can draw us into a vortex of anxiety, dread, despair, panic, and distress. What is the gateway to our emotions, but our mind. It is thoughts that are played out in our head. When fear is allowed in, it is evidence that we have given permission for our emotions to be controlled by outside interference driving our thoughts.
I don’t doubt there can be diabolical forces at work emphasizing the reasons one should embrace fear. It is nothing more than brainwashing, removing all of God’s word within us and substituting it with the enemy’s attacks.
This is why God tells us to walk by faith and not by sight. When we walk by faith our ears and eyes belong to God. We take our eyes and put them on Him, we take our ears and listen to His guidance.
Faith is knowing who God is in a very personal way in a personal relationship. He is not distant because those who are born again have His Holy Spirit living inside us.
Treacherous words can be heard everywhere in this world. But when we seek God there is a peace that surpasses all understanding, our emotions are not all tangled up like a ball of yarn. There isn’t confusion because God says He is not the author of confusion. I Corinthians 14:33
Faith is resting in His sovereignty. He has authority over all things because He made all things.
Once fear takes hold of our emotions we are not driven by truth but lies. The fear I’m talking about is not the type of discernment that gives us the ability to flee from danger.
Rather it is like giving the key to our flesh driven thoughts to dark entities. They will wreak havoc on our lives if we give them permission.
Our emotions must be controlled by God’s Holy Spirit. One of the fruits of God's Holy Spirit is self control. Why would a believer choose to believe what the devil tells them instead of what God tells them? The answer is because they don’t believe God. They don’t believe His word or His faithfulness and His character. If they did, they would rebuke the lies of the devil and turn their eyes and ears to God.
This has to be a place of repentance for the believer because the sin of unbelief is not a small matter. We need to test all things including what we put into our minds such as allowing lies to reproduce like mycotoxins.
Matthew 13:58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Mark 6:6 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.
Mark 16:14 Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.
Hebrews 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
Hebrews 3:19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
Hebrews 4:11 Let us labour (diligence) therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
